The right candidate will get to assist in developing and refining client engagement process, and delivery. The Digital Marketing Intern will have opportunities to sharpen and practice their marketing skills, including opportunities to support TA work with Perks CEO and founding marketing instructor for classes and workshops she creates and delivers at General Assembly, an entrepreneurship campus focused on technology, business, and design.

Keen sense of marketing tactics and strategies (especially pertaining to Social Media, Digital Marketing, Web Development, and Brand Development)
Understanding of business trends and concepts around CPG’s, women’s lifestyle brands (beauty/fashion/fitness), and/or an interest in tech startups and the venture capital ecosystem is preferred but not required
Potential Responsibilities Include:
Marketing and consumer research
Learn the marketing planning and management process
Work with management team to develop best practices for branding, marketing, and development project delivery.
Developing internal training documents to assist in client delivery
Office administrative and project management duties
Ideal candidate should have knowledge about marketing activities, and the iterative steps in completing these activities with a strong focus on digital and social media outlets (i.e SEO, SEM, Twitter, Facebook, AND especially emerging ones etc.) This is an excellent opportunity to jump in and get your feet wet in real agency and client experiences. This month, the Young Entrepreneur Council asked Perks Consulting CEO Lauren Perkins to tell Mashable her best tip for creating a mobile ad strategy that actually drives results (instead of just eating up marketing budgets).
Her answer: Use Geotargeting. Your mobile advertising campaign will be more successful by geotargeting advertisements to your audience. This makes your campaign more relevant and wastes fewer impressions, ultimately leading to higher engagement and follow through. Geotargeting will be a necessary component of all mobile campaigns in the near future.

Our founder Lauren Perkins recently facilitated the pilot Startup Weekend Corporate event at the World Bank with co-founder Franck Nouyrigat and DC Startup Weekend organizer Mack Kolarich, providing intrepreneurs with tool belt that entrepreneurs develop through SW’s actionable resources and programs.
Hard work pays off and the dedication put in by the corporate team has come to fruition by the recent merger with Startup America Partnership, forming the new global organization UP Global. The SW team had the vision to make entrepreneurship a more tangible reality by leveraging the impact and reach Startup Weekend brings with Startup America’s expertise in community building, UP Global will empower the startup community and enhance collaboration across the globe.
Our network and community knows these are the types of partnerships we love to see and support, and we’re looking forward to the expanded resources and momentum for entrepreneurs.
As the year comes racing to its end, I wanted to take a moment to reflect and share some news as myself and the Perks Consulting team prepare to ring in a new year.
It’s been a great year. While we were busy with new projects, new clients and expanding our training and education offerings, we had a pivotal, game changing moment. Pfizer came to us to ask for help embedding digital thought leadership and best practices for their emerging markets team. This became an affirmation that our growing vision to create a new kind of digital consultancy was on the mark. We saw an opportunity to ‘in-source’ digital competency for our clients and have been testing this very concept all year.
So after some retooling, we are officially announcing a shift in our client services model from a full service agency focused on marketing execution to a digital brand and marketing consultancy dedicated to building digital competency within organizations. We will do this by embedding the foundations needed to integrate digital strategy into the larger brand and business vision to ensure customer engagement.
Our aim is help organizations first build their digital resources, and then embed a standard approach to organizational structure and resource allocation towards their digital strategies. That’s is not the only change afoot. We are pleased to welcome Christina Vuleta who has joined our team as Managing Director. With 24 years of branding and marketing experience in a multitude of industries, Christina offers significant expertise in brand development, consumer insight and strategic planning. Prior to joining Perks, Christina was SVP, Director at The Futures Company. Her previous experience includes Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising, Faith Popcorn’s Brain Reserve and KBS+P. She also runs 40:20 Vision, a resource to mentor entrepreneurs and young professionals.
